FAQ

We welcome all questions.  The only silly question is the question not asked. If you have a question not answered below, please feel free to send your question to [email protected] and we will respond accordingly.

Can anyone bid on these lots?
Yes, anyone who personally holds a major credit card and is 18 years of age or older. Once the bids close, the Bidder`s credit card will be automatically charged for 30% of the value of the bid.

Of the 30%, 15% is for the Bidder fee and the remaining 15% is a depost on the item the Bidder won to ensure you show up to pick up and pay on the designated date/time.

The remaining 85% will be collected at that time.
Who is legally responsible for selling the items, or "Lots"?
There are two types of Sellers on newlymine.com

The first type of Seller has stated that they are the LEGAL OWNER of the items presented for bidding

The second Seller has been retained by the Legal Owner, who has entered into a Consignment Agreement, authorizing the Seller to place the items for sale

For more information, Terms and Conditions for each Seller are posted on their active Auctions. NewlyMine takes no responsibility.
Can I get a refund if I do not like what I bought?

IMPORTANT NOTE: All units are sold as “as is” and on a "what you see is what you get" basis.  All sales are FINAL as NO REFUNDS are given.
It is strongly recommended the Seller make every effort to present only items that are in good working condition. If there is damage, these damaged should be noted in the description.

What should the Bidder do if personal items are found in the Lot?
If the Bidder finds any personal items in the lot they have purchased, we strongly recommend the items be returned immediately to the Seller.  Personal items could include documentation, passports, bank records, pictures and personal videos.  If the Bidder is unsure of a specific item, please discuss it with the Seller.
Won a bid? Great! Now what?
If you are the successful bidder on a lot, payment and pick up information will be sent to you by email (from receipt of notification).

Within the email, the ADDRESS to the HOME will be stated, along with payment and pick up information. A short description of access consideration will also be given.

For the safety of the owners and/or their property, the address is NOT disclosed during bidding. It is recommended that Sellers note the neighbourhood of the home, so Bidders can decide if they want to travel to that jurisdiction.

On pick up day, Bidders are required to bring the necessary labour and items to pack up and move out their purchased lots. This includes, but is not limited to, boxes, packing paper, tape, bins, moving carts and/or dollies.

LABOUR will NOT be provided, so bring help.

Bidders will be held responsible for any damage incurred during the removal, so we ask you to be careful and respectful.

Due to COVID restrictions, Bidders are also asked to BOOK THEIR TIME slot to limit the number of people on the property.

FAILURE to SHOW UP to PAY &  PICK UP WON LOTS may result in the  BIDDER BEING REMOVED from NEWLYMINE.COM web site and BANNED from bidding on future sales.

Make sure you read the Seller`s Terms prior to bidding.
What if I don`t want all items in the LOT?
In an effort to be efficient, sometimes mutliple items will be grouped together in a LOT.

As an example, the contents of a shed may be sold as one LOT.

As a Bidder,  it is YOUR responsibility to remove and/or dispose of ALL items in the LOT, at your cost.
Can I bid on any LOT?
Yes, you can bid on any active LOT but NewlyMine strongly suggests you consider the distance you will need to travel to collect your winnings.  Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to attend at the home to pay and pick up your items on the SPECIFIED date and time. Failure to do so may result in your account being closed. Please review the Seller`s Terms and Conditions for more information.
What do the terms
These terms are used very often to describe the conditions of the sale of each LOT within an Auction.

A LOT may consist of an individual item, for example, a recliner.

OR items may be grouped together within a LOT. For example, a table and 4 chairs.

Sometimes, many small like items will be grouped together within one LOT. For example, books OR the contents of a shelf OR four boxes of misc kitchen items.

Bids are placed on each individual LOT.

If you win an auction, you will be required to take everything within the LOT.

"As is" refers to the condition of the items and No Warranties or Guarantees are provided. "Where is" means items cannot be shipped and must be picked up at the location or address of the home.
Are there any BIDDER fees payable in addition to the final sale price?
Yes.

Newlymine.com charges fees to pay for the ongoing operation and administration of this web site.

Bidders pay a 15% Bidder Fee only when they successfully win the bid.  Soon after the close of bidding, once the successful bidder is determined, the credit card on file will be charged 15%.

To ensure Bidders attend the pick up date and time, another 15% DEPOSIT is also taken toward the amount owing.

The balance, or 85% will be collected by the Seller the day of the pick up.

For example - the bid is won at $10.00

$1.50 will be collected for the Bidder Fee = so the total due, before tax is $11.50

$1.50 will be taken as a Deposit

A total of $3.00 will be charged to the Bidder credit card soon after the bid closes.

The day of pick up - the Seller will collect $8.50,  plus GST on $10
Why do some units disappear before the auction closes?
Auction LOTS are uploaded and managed by the the Seller.

As per the Terms and Conditions, the Seller has the right to remove any LOTS prior to close, if they choose to do so.

Occasionally, LOTS are entered on the site and the owner has not authorized the item(s) to be sold.

Sometimes a mistake is made, and the LOT should not have been entered or had been entered twice in error.

More often than not, if the LOT does disappear before close, it is because it has been discovered there is a problem with the LOT. It could be broken or in disrepair.

All inquiries regarding a removed auction should be addressed to the Seller.
What does a soft close mean?
A soft close is different from a hard close auction, which offers a firm closing time. Rather, NewlyMine offers a soft close on all our live units. What this means is if someone places a bid on an auction unit that has a minute or less to go from closing, the auction end time will extend for 2 more minutes and will refresh automatically until one bidder remains with the highest bid for the full (1) last minute.
What does Proxy Bidding mean?
Proxy bidding is also known as max bidding, automatic bidding or absentee bidding.

At this time, this PREMIUM membership is not offered.

When it is, newlyMANAGER will automatically do the Bidder`s bidding, within the parameters they have set.

Proxy Bidding gives Bidders the option of entering their Maximum Bid amount on a particular unit and having `the system` place bids on their behalf, automatically. When competing bids are placed, newlyMANAGER will instantly bid on behalf of the Bidder, in increments of $10, keeping that Bidder on top until their Maximum Bid amount has been reached. If the Maximum Bid Amount has been reached before the unit is sold,  newlyMANAGER will notify the Bidder (by SMS/ email) that their Maximum Bid amount has been reached. The Bidder may then choose to increase their Maximum Bid amount and keep bidding, or concede the unit, as desired.

Bidders can use newlyMANAGER to save time, as they don`t have to continually monitor an auction to stay on top. As well, newlyMANAGER makes it easy to bid on multiple units online, without having to be in front of a computer.
What happens if there are multiple Proxy Bidders?
At this time - Newlymine.com does not offer this PREMIUM membership.

Once the basic progamming is working well, Bidders may chose to enrol for this PREMIUM membership = newlyMANAGER

There can be several Bidders using newlyMANAGER at the same time on a particular LOT. In these cases, the `high bid` may jump by more than the normal $5.00 increment depending on the Proxy`s (Maximum Bids) .

Example:

Lot #100 is being auctioned and has a current `high bid` of $300

Jack logs in, looks at the LOT and decides he would be willing to pay up to $350 for this LOT.

Jack enters his Proxy Bid (Maximum Bid amount of $500) into newlyMANAGER and logs out.

newlyMANAGER now bids for Jack, putting him on top at $305

Another bidder (not using newlyMANAGER) comes in at $310

newlyMANAGER bids for Jack at $315

Now, Dianne logs in. She looks at the LOT and decides she would be willing to pay up to $400 for this LOT.

Dianne enters her Proxy Bid (Maximum Bid amount of $400) into newlyMANAGER and logs out.

**Now there are 2 Buyers using newlyMANAGER on the same LOT**

The `high bid` instantly goes from $315 to $350 (Jack`s max) and Dianne becomes high bidder at $400.

newlyMANAGER will notify Jack of the fact his Maximum Proxy Bid amount has been reached and exceeded.

Dianne will stay on top until somebody bids $405, whether by proxy or manual bid, or until the auction closes.
Does NewlyMine know my Maximum Bid amount (Proxy)?
No. In order for the process to work and to ensure confidence with our Bidders, neither NewlyMine nor it`s Sellers have access to Bidders`s Maximum Bid amount (Proxy). The Proxy Bid is encrypted and secured on a third party server.
Can I change my Maximum Bid amount (Proxy Bid)?
Yes, you can change your Maximum Bid amount  (Proxy Bid), higher only, but you need to be logged into your Bidders`s Account to do so. Simply re-enter your higher Maximum Bid amount and click on the BID NOW button. Once complete, the green message above the amount will now reflect your new Maximum Bid amount.
What is SMS?
SMS stands for Short Message Service and is another term commonly used for texting.
What happens when I win an LOT?
If you are declared the winner of a LOT, you will receive a confirmation email shortly after the LO Tcloses.  If the email does not arrive within a few minutes of the LOT close, please contact NewlyMine.

The email will notify you of your win and contain information such as the address to the home, access information, pickup date/times and invoice details.  Make sure you print this information and take it with you (as a proof of purchase) when you go to collect your winnings.

Once notified, winners are obligated to attend at the home on the stated date, during the set time period to pay and pick up their items.

It is important you read the Terms and Conditions on a Seller`s page so you are clear on the correct pick-up/ collection procedures, as these terms may vary from Seller to Seller.

Should users wish to obtain a copy of any other invoices, they can find all copies in "My Account" under Billing Overview.

* Unless stated otherwise on the individual LOT page.  Make sure you read the Seller`s Terms prior to bidding.

I am a Seller. How & when do I receive the Auction Sale proceeds?
Once your LOTs begin to close, you will receive an email notification* of the outcome.  This notification will provide details such as the LOT sale price and the Winning Bidder`s contact information.  To discourage Bidders from NOT showing up the day of payment/pick up a 15% deposit will be taken on the value of the LOT they won.

* You will still receive a notification even if your LOT does not receive a bid.  It will then be your decision as to whether you re-list the LOT or dispose of it.
How much is the Seller`s Premium and how is it calculated?
Seller`s Premiums are inclusive of GST and is presently set at 15%.

It will be calculated as a direct percentage of the auction sale price.
Are there fees for a SELLER to have Auctions on Newlymine.com
